Kepler, NVIDIA's Tegra 5 GPU on show with Batterfield 3

Kepler Tegra 5

Nvidia has shown at an event for its investors the graphics potential of the Kepler CPU built into its next chip the Tegra 5, which has been codenamed Logan. The CEO of the company, Jen-Hsun Huang impressed the attendees with the demonstrations he did and fortunately everything has been collected in a video that we can offer you.

In the initial section of it we see some images of a high demand game generated with the A6X processor of the iPad with Retina screen, the fourth generation of the Cupertino tablet. The quality is remarkable and this is recognized by the CEO of the company himself. But then it offers us some images of Battlefield 3 generated by the new SoC and the difference is important. We see a quality in the shading, a fluidity in the movements and a naturalness in the spectacular shapes and color.

They do not tell us which tablet it is, but it is surely a prototype of our own made for the occasion. As Huang himself says when comparing both images is that what the graphics of the tablets of current high-end look like 1999 compared to what your GPU can do.

Kepler's new capabilities include active shadow management, recreation of floating particles, dynamic lighting HDR and support for Direct X11.

We still do not know precisely when the day will come when we can see a tablet with this processor in stores. We recently talked to you about two tablets that could be the first to take Tegra 4 from Toshiba. The capabilities of this chip were showcased by Nvidia at the WMC. We already talked about it and we offered you a video. If we consider that we will not see tablets with the fourth generation of the company's processors until the summer of 2013, we should not expect to see devices with Tegra 5 and its Kepler until well into or at the end of 2014 as the company has indicated on occasion when speaking of your forecasts.
