Advertising while browsing the internet can be annoying and cumbersome, especially on some sites where it's overwhelming. On the smaller screen of a tablet or smartphone, the annoyance is even greater. Until now, we've had many solutions for blocking ads on PCs, and a few more on Android as well, but without a doubt, when it comes to ad blocking, AdBlock Plus (ABP) has always been the benchmark. Well, now it's coming to Android as an app.

The good thing about this new application is that it is not necessary to be root to be able to use it, although it is true that its range of action decreases. When installing it, we obtain very different results depending on the conditions of our device. These are the options:
- If you are root: works on your Android device regardless of the operating system you have and both in 3G and WiFi connection
- If you are not root and you have Android 3.1 or higher: it will work but only when you connect via WiFi.
- If you are not root and have an operating system lower than Android 3.1: you will have to manually configure the proxy. To do this, go to their website, where they give you a cable to do it.
If you have root access, you can use it in both the native browser and Chrome for Android , and even in Firefox with a specific plugin. If you want to root your tablet, here are a few tutorials organized by device.
The bad part is that on the web with encrypted SSL it will not work. Nor do we have the option of having a list of sites where we do allow advertising because it may interest us. This improvement could come in the future.
Of course, the app is free and open to collaboration to help improve any bugs it may have and to expand its block lists . There are currently numerous EasyLists in operation, and we have the option to subscribe to the one that best suits our needs.
