The war between Google y Apple has a new front: the maps. A few days ago we told you that iOS 6 will do without the Google Maps application that by default it had installed from its origins as an operating system. Now we know the real reasons, and it is that Apple has considered very seriously developing your own app to view maps. At the moment Google doubles the number of cities in 3D vision and the comparisons of both systems leave Apple in a very good position, despite having started working on this section with several years of disadvantage.

People iDownloadBlog has recently published a comparison between both map services and the result is surprising: the sharpness and textures Apple's app are far superior to Google's. In fact, the contrast in some points is like getting the colors out of Google Maps, and more, as we say, knowing that the search engine has been working on the project for years, while the Apple application is still in beta.
In addition, Apple includes many more cities In 3D (twice as much specifically: 26 by 13) of those that its now competitor brings, and especially many more non-Americans: Copenhagen, Manchester, Toronto, Lyon or Melbourne are some of them. Meanwhile, the only non-North American city with 3D support on Google Maps is Rome.
Where Google's greatest baggage is noticeable is when interacting with maps: the control, the zoom meeting and navigation they are much more agile and dynamic. However, we must bear in mind that the version they have tested in iDownloadBlog is still a beta and the difference may come from the fact that Google has the advantage of accumulated cache inside the device.
However, in Google they do not sit idly by and have fought back with an update which includes very useful information about the public transport from more than 500 cities around the world, with all their stops, stations and even train and bus schedules. We do not know if it is about showing a different strategy than Apple, but while they have opted for the spectacular of images, Google has introduced updates more geared towards making its service something practical.
