A few days ago Asus renewed its range of MeMO Pad tablets with two new models. The 7-inch attracted a lot of attention for a good combination of features with other more modest ones that make it a great bet in the low cost. Many analysts sought their comparison with the queen on Android in this format that they made themselves. However, there is a lot of disparity in their bets. This is why we want to offer you this comparison between Asus MeMO Pad HD 7 and Google Nexus 7.
Design, size and weight
In proportions they are really similar. In the most recent model, Asus has managed to reduce the bezel a bit although the thickness is slightly higher. In the end, we will not notice a decisive difference in the volume of both devices. Regarding the materials, we have plastic casing in both, although the Taiwanese one is brighter and, a priori, slippery. The latter's four-color color options are also a bonus, being able to choose between black, white, blue, pink and yellow.
The newest weighs less, probably due to a smaller battery that we will see does not affect the autonomy.

Screen
We have two screens that on paper are the same and, being the same manufacturer, we should not notice a difference. We do get different benefits when it comes to strength, since Corning's protective glass does not appear on the MeMO Pad.
Unlimited
Nvidia's Tegra 3 is clearly superior to MT8125 by MediaTek. The difference is that the four cores of one are Cortex-A9, high performance, compared to the Cortex-A7 of the other, specialized in energy saving. The graphics processor of both will help in playing videos and games but, again, NVidia's is superior.
Storage
This is the facet where getting your finger in the eye of Google is relatively easy. Asus's initial 8GB or 16GB approach is slim but it has a micro SD card slot up to 32GB and free 16GB of the company's cloud storage.
Connectivity
The option of 3G connections, as well as NFC are the strengths of the American tablet. In the rest, they go hand in hand and the absence of HDMI in both is regretted.
Cameras and sound
This is the aspect in which the new from the Taiwanese passes over the American. The front camera is the same but it also has a 5 MPX rear camera, which given the tablet's reduced format, will come in handy for taking photos and recording videos.
On the sound, Asus' SonicMaster technology will match the great sound quality of the tablet they made for Google.
Autonomy
We do not have exact figures on the new tablet, but the company assures that it will be 10 hours, only half an hour more than the Nexus 7. This will have a lot to do with its processor with Cortex-A7 cores that will not require a battery volume as high as the American.
Prices and conclusions
The price that the Taiwanese have put to MeMO Pad HD7 is a real scandal. It will be a great rival not only for Google, but for all the low cost that are recently plaguing the market. It certainly leaves the first MeMO Pad that came out a few months ago out of date.
However, we are facing two very different tablets. The Nexus 7 has a stronger focus on productivity and the world of video games. Its processor is really efficient and allows us to run heavy applications as well as demanding games.
This will not be the case with the Asus. Its processor is more than enough for navigation, simple games and applications of medium demand. His camera also indicates a more social component and a more relaxed type of user and that I prefer a device that solves many situations without shining in any way. Its price, completely accessible, confirms this categorization.
