Nexus 7 vs. Ainol Novo 7 Flame

We have spoken many times about Ainol Novo 7 Dawn II as a highly recommended option for those who don't want to shell out too much money for a tablet. However, its successor, Ainol Novo 7 Flame, it may be more than just a worthy cheap tablet and suppose a real alternative which, for the moment, is the dominator of the 7 '' sector, the Google tablet, Nexus 7. We propose a comparison of its technical specifications.

Screen. The Nexus 7 display is a good display. With a resolution of 1280 x 800 for its 7 inches, it gives us a pixel density of 216. Ainol Novo 7 Flame, for its part, has nothing to envy in this section and, significantly improving on its predecessor, offers us the same resolution than google tablet and a vision of 180º angle.

Camera. Here the tablet Ainol wins some advantage, because while Nexus 7 only has a 1,2MP front camera, it incorporates both a front camera (2MP) compo rear camera (5MP). Although the usefulness of a rear camera is quite controversial and in the smaller tablets it tends not to be included to reduce costs, perhaps it is precisely in them, due to its smaller size and greater portability, where it can have a greater utility.

Battery. This is another strong point for Ainol Novo 7 Flame, which offers us a battery of 5000 mAh, in front of 4325 mAh from the Google tablet. We would be talking about 20% more.

Conference proceedings. In this section we find again certain equity. Both have 1GB of RAM and 16GB of hard disk (in the higher capacity Nexus 7 model). The Ainol tablet, however, has the advantage of having a rmicro-SD card slot which would allow to expand the memory up to 32GB. The Google tablet lacks this possibility, apparently, because the company wants to encourage the use of its services of cloud storage.

Processor. Even at this point the aspirant competes worthily against the champion, even if he shows a little inferior. The Ainol tablet has an AMLogic AML8726-MX dual-core processor compared to the powerful Tegra 3 quad-core processor that Nexus 7 carries. However, its processor reaches a power of 1,5GHz, compared to 1,2Ghz of the Google tablet (although as we already mentioned, Nexus 7 with an overclock can go up to 1,64Ghz).

Software. This is the strong point of the champion, in which he continues to show himself superior: while the Ainol tablet will continue to work with the previous version of Android, Ice Cream Sandwich, Nexus 7 operates with Android 4.1, Jelly Bean. Still, looking at the ability of some developers to get Jelly Bean to work on older tablets, maybe we shouldn't be too concerned.

Connectivity. Neither device works with 3G, but the new Ainol Novo 7 model does include this time Bluetooth, matching the Nexus 7.
