Important news for RPG fans , and more specifically, fans of the Final Fantasy saga : a new installment is now available for download on both the App Store and Google Play . Unfortunately, not everything we have to tell you about the debut of the new Final Fantasy Dimensions II will leave you with a positive impression.
Final Fantasy Dimensions II comes to the App Store and Google Play
If Final Fantasy XV A New Empire left you wanting a new game that truly deserves to be considered part of what is probably the most popular RPG saga , you'll be happy to know that a new title has just arrived on the App Store and Google Play that has a much better chance of satisfying you: Final Fantasy Dimensions II.
And at least this time it's a role-playing game , not just an online strategy game that simply uses characters and settings from one. The title it follows received good reviews, even from the most loyal fans, so it would be justifiable to be quite optimistic about what it might offer.
The controversy resurfaces
However, and unfortunately, we can't say that, despite returning to the RPG genre , this new Final Fantasy game is receiving a great reception, nor is it a recommendation we can make without reservation. You can get an idea simply by looking at the reviews it's receiving from the first players (especially on Google Play), which aren't as positive as one might have hoped.
The problem this time around is that, even though it's now within the RPG genre , Final Fantasy Dimensions II seems to have fallen into the trap of making too many concessions to the prevailing trends in mobile games, simplifying the gameplay mechanics more than fans of the genre would like. It may, in fact, be an even bigger problem than the one faced by Final Fantasy XV: A New Empire , which, after all, won over many fans of online strategy games.
Is it worth the price?
The worst part about Final Fantasy Dimensions II drifting towards the casual side is that, after all, it's not a free download, which is what usually justifies certain recurring elements in a certain type of RPG , which seek to attract a wider audience and encourage in-app purchases that finance it.
And we're talking, after all, about a game that will cost us 17 euros . It's not exactly surprising, because, with the exception of a few free titles, that's what Final Fantasy games usually cost on the App Store and Google Play , but it's certainly a price that warrants some expectations. Of course, only by playing it will you be able to know for sure, but we do occasionally see games in the series on sale, so if you have any reservations, it might be a good idea to wait.
