Galaxy J7 2017 vs Xperia XA1 Plus: comparison

comparative phablets

We already left you a few weeks ago comparative in which we measured the last phablet of Samsung ’s relationship with the Xperia XA1 Ultra, but in many ways the most recent model can be a more interesting alternative, especially if we want a large screen, but 6 inches is too bulky: Galaxy J7 2017 vs Xperia XA1 Plus, Which is the best option for you?

Designer

The general design lines of Samsung y Sony They are quite different and this duel is a new example of them, with smoother curves and more regular frames in the first, and more pronounced angles and frames up and down in the second. Going to more practical questions, yes, with either of the two we will be well served, since both offer us the premium finishes of a metal case and fingerprint reader.

Dimensions

As we mentioned at the beginning, these two phablets are much closer in size than we were in the comparison with the Xperia XA1 Ultra, but it should be noted that, even so the Sony it's something bigger15,25 x 7,48 cm against 15,5 x 7,5 cm). This difference in volume, in any case, does not extend to weight, where they are practically tied (181 grams against 189 grams), but yes to the thickness, where the Galaxy J7 takes advantage again8 mm against 8,7 mm).

Screen

The difference in size draws a bit more attention when we take into account that their screens are identical in this aspect (5.5. inches). It is not the only thing they have in common, in addition, since in both we find Full HD resolution (1920 x 1080), as is now the norm for mid-range phablets. With this starting point, logically, they also have the same pixel density (PPI 401). The only notable difference between the two is that Samsung's phablet comes with Super AMOLED panels.

Unlimited

In the performance section, however, perhaps we should give the advantage to the phablet of Sony, which is true that it comes with a Mediatek processor, but after all it is much more powerful (Exynos 7870 eight core to 1,6 GHz against Helio P20 eight core to 2,3 GHz), in addition to having some advantage in RAM memory (3 GB against 4 GB). With both of us we are going to enjoy, yes, of Android Nougat (Although it was presented later, it seems that we will also have to wait for an update for Android Oreo to reach the Xperia XA1 Plus).

Storage capacity

The phablet of Sony another victory is scored in the storage capacity section, thanks more than anything to that it arrives with 32 GB internal memory, a point at which the phablet of Samsung, with 16 GB, it stays a little shorter. With both of us we will be able to pull cards micro-SD, in any case, if we are short of space.

Cameras

In the cameras section, these two phablets have in common that instead of joining the trend of dual cameras, they continue to bet on more conventional formulas although, by number of megapixels, the winner would be the Xperia XA1 Ultra, both with regard to the one behind (13 SM against 23 SM) and the one in front (13 SM against 16 SM). The figures of the Galaxy J7 they are positive, in any case, especially for selfies, and it can boast of having a larger aperture (f / 1.7 versus f / 2.0).

Autonomy

The autonomy section is especially interesting on this occasion, since we find two phablets with very good performance: in both cases we have an important starting battery capacity (3600 mAh against 3430 mAh), curiously greater in the thinnest and most compact, and both obtain great results from them according to the data left by the independent tests of gsmarena: 108h moderate use for the phablet Samsung y 102h in the same conditions for that of Sony.

Galaxy J7 2017 vs Xperia XA1 Plus: final balance of the comparison and price

With either of these two phablets we will have good finishes, a fingerprint reader, a 5.5-inch Full HD screen, Android Nougat and excellent autonomy, but the Samsung has in its favor the best image quality of AMOLED panels and that of Sony more power and more storage capacity. In the camera section, we have already seen that the Xperia XA1 It wins in megapixels, but in other details the Galaxy J7 2017 does.

The price advantage, on the other hand, is for the Galaxy J7 2017, which has been on sale a little longer and can be found already below the 340 Euros for which it was launched (in some distributors we have it for less than even 300 euros). The Xperia XA1 Ultra, instead, it was announced by 350 Euros.
