Samsung has brought to the fore a new compact tablet that can compete with the dominators of this stretch. Its third generation of tablets has 7, 8 and 10,1 inch models. In the small ones, the 7-year-old has acquired a clear profile low cost that distances it from being a direct rival of Google and Apple. However, the 8-inch has specifications that put it directly into the fight. Once already custom to iPad mini, we offer you a comparison between Galaxy Tab 3 8.0 and Nexus 7.
Design, size and weight
The difference in size between the two is not excessive, we will see that the Korean is slightly taller and wider but where we will notice a change is in the thickness, where it is notably thinner. As for the weight, we will not notice the 10 grams more of the tablet manufactured by Asus.
In design it is a matter of taste. Samsung will release its tablet in two colors while in the other we only have dark gray. Both are made with plastic so the quality of materials is even.

Unlimited
Still we don't really know how the Atom Z2560 chip performs that we find in the two new Galaxy Tab. As we have already explained on other occasions, the number of cores is not completely decisive in performance. We have seen several teams opting for this chip recently although none has been able to be duly subjected to benchmarks, although in the first media contacts it was seen to be extremely fast. Perhaps this has to do with its 1,5 GB of RAM, which will give it more management capacity. Either way, the graphical ability of Tegra 3 is still a safe bet. In turn, its multitasking ability is remarkable.
Storage
The micro SD expandability of the Galaxy Tab 3 8.0 ugly affects the choice that Google made at the time, but this happens in comparison with almost all tablets.
Connectivity
Here they are almost on par, being able to choose a model with WiFi only or with mobile networks. Although the Korean will be able to connect to 4G LTE networks, which have just been released in our country. Nexus 7 chest out with the NFC, although we still do not find almost use to this technology in Spain.
Cameras and sound
The rear camera of the Samsung makes the difference just by being there. The truth is that it is seldom used, but when it is, it is used. Sound requires first-hand testing. Google's sounds incredibly good and it's hard to match.
Autonomy
They have very similar batteries and screens with the same resolution, this leaves the difference in the chip. Intel's Clover Trail + bet more on autonomy than power. In any case, with the 9,5 hours of the American we have more than enough.
Prices and conclusions
Samsung has yet to price the Galaxy Tab 3 8.0. Analysts expect something close to 300 euros, given that the 7-inch will be below 200 for sure. The bet of the Koreans is not significantly higher than that of Google and this clearly limits the price options, if they want to be competitive. The second camera, as well as being able to expand the storage can weigh, but perhaps not enough if the price is high. In addition, the second generation of Nexus 7 may be falling and would mean a price drop for the first or even a withdrawal of this model to bet on the renewed with an equal price. Both options would put the Korean tablet and all the models in this range in difficulty.
