Arcade games for tablets. Create a mining empire in Craft Away!

As we've mentioned before, despite the dominance of role-playing and strategy games, arcade games for tablets and smartphones have experienced significant growth. Now, there are hundreds of titles in this genre that utilize two-dimensional worlds and elements reminiscent of the industry's early games to win over millions of players.

Today we're going to talk about Craft Away!, a new member of this ever-growing family of games, some of which might remind you of Minecraft. What are its biggest draws? Will it share the same strengths and weaknesses as other games in its category? We'll try to answer these and other questions below.

Argument

We find ourselves in a two-dimensional world made up of thousands of small squares, each concealing a wealth of mineral resources . Our mission is to explore this territory and obtain all the riches we can find. To do this, we will have mining equipment that we can gradually upgrade. However, this will not be easy, as a strange force is taking over entire regions and trapping all sorts of creatures that we will have to rescue.

Arcade games continue to rely on their simplicity

One of the strengths of this game, like many others in the genre, is its ease of use. Simply tap the screen on the rock formations you want to break. As mentioned before, as you progress, you'll acquire power-ups and special abilities that will speed things up. Strategy also plays a role in Craft Away!, as you'll sometimes have to choose where to apply upgrades and which secondary characters to rescue for their help later. There's also an offline mode that allows you to continue playing even without internet access.

Gratuitous?

Like many others in this and other categories, Craft Away has no initial cost . As we mentioned earlier, it's a newcomer. It appeared on Google Play at the end of November. Some stability issues have already been resolved in its first version. It has managed to approach one million downloads; however, its in-app purchases could hinder its future success, as the most expensive items reach €120.
