Strategy games: Build a space metropolis and explore in Valerian

valerian strategy games

We often tell you about a multitude of strategy games that are halfway between what we are used to seeing in this field and the new formulas or in this case, arguments, that are appearing with other titles. The magical and fantasy realms that remind us of franchises like The Lord of the Rings, have given way to others that resort to elements of science fiction.

The latter, on many occasions, are also inspired by series, films or novels that have been well received in the real world. This could be the case with Valerian: City of Alpha, of which we are now telling you more and which has been taken directly from one of the productions of Luc Besson, director of the famous The Fifth Element.

Argument

As in the film starring Milla Jovovich and Bruce Willis, we are in a not entirely distant future. Here, the human race has launched into the colonization of other worlds. In a galaxy called Valerian, we will have to launch into the creation of a prosperous city called Alpha which should be the peaceful meeting point and a melting pot for all the alien species that inhabit space. As we move forward, we will be able to relate to more beings who will help us by providing us with the technology and resources necessary to expand the metropolis.

Strategy games gain complexity

To the interaction that we mentioned before, other elements are added such as the possibility of building spaceships with which to explore the Universe. On the other hand, we will have the possibility of creating squadrons of explorers with which to discover more riches light years from our home. All this, without forgetting the main axis around which Valerian is articulated: City of Alpha, the construction and management of a city in which the simulation genre also acquires a prominent role.

Gratuitous?

Most strategy games have no initial cost. This can also be applied to this work, which so far has achieved some 50.000 downloads. The figure may seem low but it was released just a few days ago. It has integrated shopping that can reach 119 euros in the case of the most expensive objects. It has been well received for its graphics and sound and visual settings but has also garnered some criticism for malfunctions.
