Google Nexus 7

Recently, Google launched at the event Google I/O his long-awaited Nexus 7 tablet about which hundreds of rumors had spread on the Internet. The tablet in question is the first with Google's own brand, although it has been manufactured by Asus. It has the Jelly Bean 4.1 operating system. recently launched and powered by a Tegra 3 quad-core processor. Nexus 7 will go on sale in July in the US for a price of $199 in its 8GB version.

Nokia has already shown its discontent when it perceives that some of its patents are being used on the Google tablet, although the Finnish manufacturer has not yet taken legal action. It seems that the license in question is related to the Wi-Fi and it could be IEEE 802.11.

A Nokia spokesperson has stated this to the newspaper. The Inquirer: “Nokia has more than 40 licenses, mainly for its catalog of essential patents, with the majority of the producers of mobile devices. Neither Google nor Asus have licenses on our patent catalog (…) Companies that don't have a license on our essential patents and want to use them, they should just come to us and sign a license ”.

The Inquirer notes that it believes it is unlikely that Nokia will sue, but rather will ask Google to sign those licenses. The Inquirer contacted a spokesperson for Asus to give your opinion on this news and this declined to comment. On Google's part, no one has come up against Nokia's public complaint either.
