When we think of image apps, all those platforms that allow us to edit the photos and videos housed in the galleries immediately come to mind. With a reception that varies from one to another, and an interface that aims to make them useful both for audiences with little knowledge of the subject and for other professionals, these tools already have a category of their own.
However, we again encounter the same problems as in certain genres of games or applications in other fields, such as messaging: saturation. This forces us to look for new, sometimes futuristic, approaches. Today we're talking about Holo , one of those products that tries to go further and revolutionize the visual capabilities of tablets and smartphones. Will it succeed?
Operation
According to its creators, this app goes a step further than the advances we're already seeing in fields like virtual reality. In theory, it allows users to edit content stored in their galleries and turn it into small holograms . As is typical with these platforms, users will have access to a range of effects and filters that will allow them to rotate images and add objects to make them more fun or professional.
The same elements as other image apps?
There are two features that make Holo similar to many other tools of its kind. First, the ability to choose from a catalog of preset effects taken from movies and music videos and included within the application itself. Second, the social networking component , which, as is usually the case, allows users to save their creations to their devices and then share them via Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, or Snapchat, among others.
Free?
Updated a few days ago, Holo is free to download . However, despite being in its second version, it hasn't reached 50.000 downloads . While it has seen improvements in areas like the catalog of available effects, it has also received criticism for camera issues and the inability to display holos once they've been created. It requires devices running Android version 5.1 or higher to function correctly. It is available in English.
Do you think Holo could be among the best image apps if it were improved? Do you prefer other tools when editing your favorite photos? More information about other apps like PhotoPills is available.
