How to customize the iPad keyboard

Although modifications have been added, such as the ability to split it into two parts, the iPad keyboard has remained almost unchanged since its initial release. We're going to give you some tips on how to customize it , both with and without jailbreaking.

The first is installing the Emoji keyboard , which has become so popular, especially thanks to WhatsApp. It's possible to have it installed on your tablet since it's officially available in the App Store. Just search for it, install it, and go to Settings > Keyboard > International Keyboards and activate it as you would another language.

Then to go from one to another of those that we have active, you just have to press the key with the globe icon that is to the left of the spacer. This also applies to you if you are polyglots and want to write in languages with special spellings such as Arabic, Chinese, etc.

Following the "official" method, we're now going to recommend another app called Keyboard Upgrade. Also available on the App Store for €0,79 , it allows you not only to split the keyboard but also to customize the size of each half and position it wherever you like on the screen. Its sister app is Keyboard Fix , which offers all these options but without splitting the iPad's virtual keyboard in two.

For deeper customization, you'll need to jailbreak your iPad. Our tutorials explain how to do this step by step. Once your iPad is jailbroken, go to Cydia and search for iKeyWi HD. This package isn't free; it costs €2,99.

This tweak will allow us several interesting things, the first is to add a fifth line to the keyboard at the top with the numbers and their corresponding symbols when we press capital letters as well as the arrow keys in the second and third row.

Furthermore, this tweak is compatible with ColorKeyboard HD , an app available on the App Store for €0,79 that allows you to change the keyboard's color and design. You can assign a different background to the keys, change the letter colors, and even modify the font colors and styles when typing on the screen.
