Huawei P20 vs Honor 10: comparison

comparative

Yesterday we left you a comparative in which we reviewed the differences between the new flagship of Huawei and the Mate 10, the other great phablet in its catalog, and today we are going to continue with one in which we do the same with the new high-end phablet of its low-cost brand, although in this case we are going to measure it with the standard version instead of with the "pro": Huawei P20 vs Honor 10.

Designer

Starting with the design, it does not take more than a quick glance to appreciate that we find two practically identical phablets (at least with regard to the front because the camera does introduce some difference in the back), with the notch as protagonist but also with another unusual feature in common (in phablets with such reduced frames) which is the location of the fingerprint reader under the screen. There is a detail of a practical nature that many will count in favor of the Honor 10 and it deserves to be mentioned, in any case, that it is still coming with a headphone jack port.

Dimensions

Despite being identical in design, their dimensions do not quite match, which is probably due to the fact that their screen is almost the same size, but not exactly. The difference is minimal, if at all: we can hardly say that the Huawei P20 it is somewhat more compact (14,91 x 7,08 cm against 14,96 x 7,12 cm), the Honor 10 it's just a little bit lighter165 grams against 153 grams) and in thickness they are practically tied (7,7 mm).

Screen

The situation is very similar when we compare their screens, since again we find technical specifications that are basically the same, but that are not quite identical: we have already told you that they are more or less the same size (5.8 inches against 5.84 inches), their aspect ratio is practically identical (18.7: 9 vs 19: 9), and they are both Full HD, although the pixel count differs slightly because of that small format difference (2240 x 1080 front 2280 x 1440).

Unlimited

Where we do find an absolute tie is in the performance section, which is one of the points in which the Honor 10 It draws more attention considering its price, since it also mounts the best processor of Huawei (Kirin 970, from eight cores to 2,4 GHz) and also accompanies it with 4 GB of RAM. In fact, if anything you should give him the advantage here because there will be a model with 6 GB, while if we want to make this leap with the flagship we have to think about the "pro" version. Of course in both of us we already have Android Oreo, as far as the operating system is concerned.

Storage capacity

Where it does clearly win the Huawei P20 It is in the section of storage capacity, although in reality it is more a question that while with it the only option we have is 128 GB of internal memory, with the Honor 10 we can choose one with 64 GB which, logically, will help lower the price. It is important to be clear about our needs in this regard, in any case, because neither of them has a card slot micro-SD.

Cameras

In the camera section we also find important differences, and perhaps the balance should be tipped here also on the side of the Huawei P20 which has a dual camera with fewer megapixels (20 SM), but with a larger aperture (f / 1.6), 1.5 um pixels in the secondary, optical image stabilizer and x2 optical zoom, while in the Honor 10 we find a dual camera of 24 SM with aperture f / 1.8, but lacking some of the extras that we are getting used to seeing already in the high-end range. The front camera, however, would be the same in both, with 24 SM.

Autonomy

We will have to wait to have data from tests independent of the Honor 10, but in the autonomy section we should find another draw, taking into account that the battery of the two has exactly the same capacity (3400 mAh) and that there are no significant differences in any of the sections that normally influence consumption the most, such as the screen or the processor. Keep in mind that the Huawei P20 in this section it remains (with 76 hours) well behind the Huawei P20 Pro in the ranking of better battery phablets.

Huawei P20 vs Honor 10: final balance of the comparison and price

As we have seen, the Huawei P20 and the Honor 10 They are two very similar phablets, especially in design, but there are some important differences between the two, the main one being probably the one we find in the camera section, where the advantage is for the Huawei P20. The standard version of the Honor 10 It also comes with less RAM and storage capacity, but this can be compensated if we are willing to pay more and get one of the higher versions.

The question will be how much the price difference will finally be when the Honor 10 reaches Europe, since at the moment the only thing we have is the price for China, which at the same time is not far from the 300 Euros, but it will surely go up quite a bit. There is still enough margin in any case until reaching the 650 Euros from which he starts Huawei P20.
