We have known for a long time that Acer, encouraged by the good sales figures of its Iconia B1-A71, had decided to go ahead with the production of new low-cost tablets. We weren't expecting them before summer at least, and yet one of them has already been released, the Iconia A1-810, a tablet of 8 inches that with a price of 199 Euros, is presented as an economical alternative to iPad mini.
The success of the iPad mini It is not going unnoticed by the rest of the manufacturers and, from what it is seen, they do not stop coming up with competitors. The most popular of its rivals is probably the Galaxy Note 8.0, but it is clear that it will not be the only one. The last one we have just met comes from the hand of AcerWho they had announced that, given the good sales of his Iconia B1, they were going to launch two low-cost tablets more this summer, one of 10 inches and another 8 inches. Well, the second of them has already been released: it will be called Iconia A1-810 and will be priced at 199 Euros.
The price of the tablet 8 inches has finally corresponded with total accuracy to the predictions that we read by the experts and, as we mentioned then, the difference with respect to the Iconia B1 is due to a few improvements that the Iconia A1-810 incorporates with respect to it (and with which, by the way, the experts also nailed it): as expected, the new tablet has 1 GB RAM (instead of 512 MB) and with a new 4 core processor de meaditek.
These, however, are not the only sections in which the Iconia A1-810 upgrade to Iconia B1: it also has more storage capacity, 16 GB memory (although it is true that Iconia B1 also already has a model with 16 GB), a more powerful battery (3.250 mAh front 2.710 mAh) and with two cameras, one of them 5 SM (instead of a single camera 0,3 SM). In terms of resolution, there is practically no improvement, but even so, it matches that of the iPad mini: 1024 x 768.
Altogether, it seems that Acer has managed to maintain a good value for money, although we will have to wait for a month June, when it is expected to be put on sale, to see if it achieves the same good results as with the Iconia B1. In the meantime, we will be attentive to see if there are news also regarding the tablet of 10 inches.
