Despite the fact that all tablet and smartphone users have some messaging application on their terminals, the truth is that other platforms of this type do not stop appearing that try to get a space in a sector in which a handful of tools are the most used by users. WhatsApp, Line and Telegram top the rankings, however, there are others that have also achieved several tens of millions of downloads.
Communication remains the most widespread use of mobile devices, and applications like KakaoTalk aim to capitalize on this while simultaneously striving to ensure accessibility by breaking down geographical barriers of all kinds. Below, we'll tell you more about this app, which, in essence, bears a considerable resemblance to others we've discussed previously.
Operation
The concept behind KakaoTalk is already well-known: It allows you to send messages to your contacts (provided they also have the app) and attach audio, video , and documents. Like similar apps, it includes a catalog of emojis and stickers . Some messaging apps may have compatibility issues across all operating systems. In this case, KakaoTalk supports Android, Windows, and iOS.
Synchronization
Similar to WhatsApp Web, this application allows you to use it on multiple devices with a single account. It's also compatible with Android wearables . Among its features are a task manager, the ability to create group chats , and the option to send messages to multiple channels simultaneously. It also includes a message inbox for unread messages.
Free?
KakaoTalk is free to use, which, as we mentioned at the beginning, has helped it reach over 100 million users, according to its creators. Updated just a few days ago, it has a feature that has drawn criticism and could limit its wider adoption: in- app purchases that can cost up to €61 per item. The new version fixes some bugs that caused unexpected crashes.
Do you think that despite achieving a considerable number of downloads, this app has peaked, or do you think that if some of the aspects most negatively rated by users are addressed, it will gain even more popularity?
