Reverso aims to rival Google Translate while offering lessons on the most widely spoken languages in the world. To what extent will it be able to meet the expectations of its developers?
Operation
Reverso has a very simple mechanism: Just like the platform created by the folks at Mountain View, it allows us to instantly obtain translations in 11 languages , from words to more complex phrases and sentences. Furthermore, it offers results tailored to each context in which we encounter different structures and allows us to create a database with the vocabulary and syntax that best suits our needs.
Learning
As mentioned earlier, this application allows users to learn one of the languages in which it is available by creating and using flashcards containing words . Furthermore, its creators assert that it can be useful for all types of users: from students of any level to professionals in fields such as science or technology who need instant translations of academic texts and quotes. The social component is also important, as it allows users to share their results via email and major social networks.
Free?
This tool is free on Google Play, though it costs €5 on iTunes. Among Android users, it's nearing 5 million downloads. The most highly rated features by users include the accuracy of the translations and its ease of use. However, it has also received some criticism for its in-app purchases, which can reach €4,99 per item, and for its limited language database , which focuses primarily on Western European languages, Arabic, and Chinese.
