Today we are going to put in comparative the tablets that everyone is talking about and that could be classified as the best tablets or the queens of tablets. The irruption that Nexus 7 and Kindle Fire HD have had, which have gained a brutal prestige in just a few weeks in the market, is undoubtedly surprising. The New iPad is a gem and has the full backing of the Cupertino company.
There is something curious with these three tablets and that is that none of them allow an expansion by SD or microSD card of the storage. This shows that it is these three tablets that represent the war for content for mobile devices, since both movies and books or music, once purchased, can be downloaded or in some cases watched in streaming when it is most convenient.
Screen
Nexus 7 and Kindke Fire HD 7 have made an effort to raise the resolution and approximate the Retina display of the New iPad. In terms of definition, their 216 ppi does not reach the 264 ppi of the Apple tablet but, I have already said it on occasion, those indexes are as high as they are unnecessary.
Size and weight
Amazon and Google have opted for total portability and almost identical dimensions, although the Kindle Fire is slightly flatter. The New iPad with its 9,7 inches is a large format tablet but not one of the largest. We find much bulkier 10,6 and 11-inch tablets on the market. In the weight Nexus 7 takes the cake, followed by the tablet of the Seattle company and in another strip is that of Apple. It is difficult to say if 300 grams really change the feeling of portability in an already small device. I think not so much.
Unlimited
In RAM they are at par all three. A priori, the most powerful processor chip is that of the Nexus 7 with its quad-core Tegra 3 CPU plus the fantastic 12-core Ge Force GPU, and its Android 4.1 Jelly Bean operating system has cut the gap with Apple. However, if what we are looking for is smoothness and a good user experience, the New iPad is still king thanks to iOS 5 and iOS 6, if you have already updated. Some data management tasks may be made faster by the Nexus 7, but the on-screen response is still not the same. Kindle Fire HD 7 is fine, but it falls short of these two monsters.
Storage
Nexus 7 storage is really scarce and Amazon has visibly taken a competitive edge here. For all of the Cupertino company's products, storage is obscenely expensive and an investment that borders on the absurd.
Clearly all three have opted for a Cloud service instead of physical storage. In all three cases, the content once purchased can be downloaded or played in streaming. As for the cloud storage they offer, it could be summarized thus by its characteristics. The cheapest and largest is that of Amazon, although it is poor in services, the most complete is that of Apple, although only useful for its devices, and the most universal is that of Google, although it has to solve the blockade of Google Music for Spain. Here you have one comparison of these services that will be useful to you.
Connectivity
The connectivity with other devices is much better in the Amazon tablet than in the other two devices since it carries USB and HDMI. In Apple the problem is its exclusive ports although with adapters we will solve the problems. As for Internet connectivity, only the New iPad gives us the option of connection via mobile network.
Nexus 7 lacks HDMI but has USB, Bluetooth and what clearly differentiates it from NFC that gives you options as a purchase tool with Google Wallet.
Camera and sound
The Amazon tablet has the best sound of the three. And in terms of cameras, Apple wins by being the only one with an additional 5 MPX rear.
Battery
All are tablets with good autonomy although Kindle Fire HD stands out with an hour more.
Conclusion
Despite the efforts of its competitors, the New iPad continues to offer an overall better user experience. In some respects the other two tablets have fallen short or even surpassed. The weak point of the Apple tablet is and always will be universality, something that Android does offer. In terms of value for money, Nexus 7 is the best, its performance is very valuable, especially in video games. The downside is the storage, but its price makes us smile.
If we want a tablet to carry content, perhaps Kindle Fire HD is a good option since its performance is much more than acceptable and offers more storage for the same price as Google's.
