Nexus 5 vs LG G2: comparison

LG G2 vs. Nexus 5

Today we bring you a comparison between two sister devices. Even before the launch LG G2, already many voices pointed to the Nexus 5 It would be very inspired by the flagship of the Korean manufacturer. Perhaps this is the case, although we should make important qualifications to said sentence and that is that, despite the possible similarities, each terminal has a personality of its own quite accused.

At first, it seems that the question could be summed up in whether we opt for a specific manufacturer or if, on the contrary, we are left with the google philosophy. However, the specifications of both terminals have subtle variations and even the performance is different in those sections in which they share hardware. We are going to get closer to the two devices in more detail to analyze their differences.

Designer

The material of the back is also different in its texture, although both are plastic. Terminal LG is brighter and smooth while that of Google it is more austere, matt and seeks to offer a better grip.

Another important detail is the buttons on the back of the G2. However, the two models coincide in integrating the basic front controls (back, home, multitasking) within the screen, in digital.

Dimensions

The size of the LG G2 is slightly higher, however, its space seems to be better optimized if we like narrow frames. The dimensions of the Nexus 5 are 13,7 cm x 6,9 cm x 8,6 mm while those of the G2 reach 13,8 cm x 7,1 cm x 8,9 mm.

Screen

5,2 inches reaches the screen of the LG G2, while the Nexus 5 stays in 5 inches. Display technology TrueHDIPSdisplay is identical, as is the number of pixels of both computers: 1920 × 1080. However, the difference in size makes the Google terminal have a Density dots per inch somewhat higher.

Unlimited

Theoretically, there should be few differences between the performance of both devices, since both one and the other mount a Snapdragon 800. However, of AnTuTu show a superiority of 10.000 points by the G2. We do not know very well what this inequality responds to, however it is still striking.

As you can see, on the left the Nexus 5 scores 24 thousand points while LG's terminal reaches 34 thousand.

Operating System

Another of the most notable differences. However, this time it is a matter of taste. We love the Android experience pure, since it offers an excellent opportunity to leave equipment to our liking with the infinite possibilities from Google Play. In this sense, we value the concept of the Nexus 5, while the LG G2 software seems somewhat baroque to us and full of functions that a good part of users will find unnecessary.

Camera

There is an important sector of the Android community who argue that megapixels are not important if the camera is accurately calibrated and its sensors are of quality. However, to us the resolution at which the image is captured cannot but seem like a fundamental issue.

These photographs illustrate the difference between the 5MP Nexus 8 camera (on the left) and the 2MP LG G13, on the right, both with optical stabilizer, by the way. You can judge it yourself.

Autonomy

There is also no point of comparison. It is true that the Nexus 5 it will be a team lighter and more manageable, however, the difference in load between the 2.300 mAh of the Google terminal and 3.000 mAh of the LG terminal, must necessarily be noticed in daily use. Precisely, a table that we published last week provided more information on the performance of both teams in this section.

Price and conclusions

La value for money Nexus 5 is hard to beat (a great equipment for 350 euros), and there will be many users who prefer to have direct updates and a pure Android experience. In fact, it is such an important trait that, price aside, even I could tip the balance in favor of the terminal, despite the fact that the LG G2 has apparently more powerful hardware.

El G2 for its part it costs about 490 Euros. Obviously not up to Nexus levels, but it's about a price very reasonable if we take into account what other high-end products of this 2013 cost. Its better performance, camera and larger screen are the sections where shown above to his rival.
