A few days ago, thanks to the guys at iPadizate.com, we were able to see a resistance test made by Square Trade in which a comparison between the New iPad and Nexus 7. Although they are devices with very different characteristics, we can say that they are the flagship of the two rival giants Apple and Google and that, clearly, the future of one will affect the other and vice versa.

The test that Square Trade performs is based on the habitual accidents that tablet users usually have, that is, falls from different heights and water. They offer us an interesting video where we see the New iPad and Nexus 7 fall from the hands while standing and from a bench while sitting. Afterwards, and as a final test, they are submerged in a bathtub while they both play a video.
This is the result that we will now comment on:
After this spectacular test we draw a very clear conclusion: the Nexus 7 is more resistant. Its screen does not break as easily as the New iPad. After being submerged in water it is surprising that both continue to work, I did not expect it at all. But more surprising is to see that even the Nexus 7 speakers continue to work something that does not happen in the New iPad and is that the speaker grill is a very delicate place and where water enters freely.
Although the test is very revealing, we can say that we already had some data about the hardness of Nexus 7. A few days after its presentation on Google I / O, the iFixit technicians opened it and showed us piece by piece and highlighted the amount of good materials that we found, something that raised doubts about the profitability of the device.
They mainly highlighted what well insulated what was for avoid heating. Google Nexus 7 uses copper foils to separate its powerful NVIDIA Tegra3 quad-core processor. If we compare this with the New iPad, the Nexus 7 is victorious again and it is that many consumers, especially Americans, have complained about the tablet overheating from Apple. Its powerful A5X processor in conjunction with its high resolution Retina display causes temperatures of up to 47 degrees to be reached.
Being clear that a New iPad breaks easier than a Nexus 7, we must also know that its repair is fed up more difficult. En el teardown or exploded by iFixit, we saw how easy it was to separate the Nexus 7 into pieces, except for its screen in which the Corning Glass panel and glass were fused. If we compare it with any part we want, like this one from TechRepublic.com, of the New iPad we will see that the Apple tablet is a real hell to repair. To open it, you have to use a heat gun or a dryer while we leverage with several flat tools and, once inside, its components are very particular. Not to mention replacing its expensive screen that, as we have already seen, is very easy to break.
In short, the Google Nexus 7 is tougher than the New iPad and it is easier to repair if necessary.
