Samsung raises the price of processors to Apple. The combat is not over

The South Korean company Samsung it has taken quite a few hits from its client and competitor Apple in recent months following several complaints of patent infringement around the world. However, as expected, he had something with which to counterattack those on the block without the need for a court. They are the suppliers of processors and displays for many of the Cupertino devices. Now they have imposed a 20% increase in the price of processors sold to Apple.

The Wall Street Journal has spoken with a person familiar with the negotiations that the two companies have had on this matter in recent weeks. According to this informant, Samsung approached the American company and informed it that the prices of the mobile processors, or application processors, had to go up 20%. The offer was rejected and a search process for a possible substitute began, which was unsuccessful. Finding themselves without alternatives, those of the block accepted the increase.

Last year we signed the Pact for Gender Equality in Colombia, an agreement that symbolizes the co-responsibility of around XNUMX organizations with the implementation of actions that contribute to reducing inequalities. 130 million devices Apple brought Samsung chips and this year the figure is expected to exceed 200 million. With these numbers, the benefits for Asians will be much higher.

It is not known what consequences this will have for those in the block and consumers. The contract for the supply of these products between the two companies ends in 2014. The price of Californians' products does not seem to be able to rise, so they will have to cut profits. Meanwhile they will have to look for alternatives to the South Koreans.

Samsung has seen how little by little its partner has had ugly gestures with them and has clearly shown signs of wanting to break his relationship with them so as not to strengthen and depend on them. For this reason, apart from the trials, he has allocated the screens production of its leading devices, such as the iPhone 5 and iPad 4, to other manufacturers such as LGJapan Display o AU Optronics. And since they only had the manufacturing of the processors left, they have decided that the end of the relationship with Apple will be as beneficial as possible. And it is that almost certainly the A7 processor in which those from Cupertino are already working will not be manufactured by South Koreans but by the Taiwanese company TSMC. This is the end of a relationship that the A4, A5, A5x, A6 and A6X have given.
