Messaging applications and those aimed at photo and video editing and montage are very popular in general terms, but even more so among a young audience that has made the use of social networks one of the most widespread uses among tablets and smartphones that they drive on a daily basis. Tool developers as well as manufacturers are aware of the pull generated by this type of platform, therefore, they do not stop creating new alternatives for a demanding public that is already witnessing a certain saturation.
The sophistication of photo editing apps has been steadily increasing, and nowadays, as we've mentioned before, you can find examples like SNOW , which aims to meet the expectations of both amateur and professional users through the features we'll now describe. How can it position itself in a segment where, at first glance, everything seems to have already been invented?
Operation
The core of SNOW is content recording. Through this, we can create GIFs and, as is common in other apps of its kind, we can add filters and effects to the images to achieve everything from fun creations reminiscent of MSQRD to more elaborate ones. Furthermore, there's an added feature that its creators intend to set it apart: the ability to send GIFs to our friends and chat with them.
Privacy policy
Photos are one of the most frequently stolen items by hackers when attacking tablets and smartphones. To prevent a negative experience, and following the example of apps like Snapchat, SNOW deletes messages and content after 48 hours, also removing all comments. Furthermore, videos can only be played once, and if third parties attempt to take screenshots, the developers intercept them and notify the video owner.
Free?
SNOW has become one of the most popular apps in its category and is currently approaching 50 million downloads . Despite being free and not requiring in-app purchases at first glance, it has been criticized for some aspects such as its excessive size on devices and the loss of image quality after editing.
Do you think it's possible to find other apps that offer a better experience than SNOW? More information about similar platforms like Afterlight is available so you can form your own opinion.
