The best augmented reality apps for iOS 11

augmented reality tablets

We've already brought you a selection of tips and tricks for iOS 11 , but we can't overlook one of the most popular topics iOS 11 has made with ARKit : augmented reality apps . Here's a selection of some of the apps that have made the most of it, along with a video so you can see the results some of them offer.

Augmented reality apps that can be very useful

Let's start with apps that might be useful to you at some point. Currently, design and decoration apps seem to be the most popular, allowing us to see exactly how each piece of furniture would look in our home, and so on. Of course, we have to mention IKEA Place , but we'll have to wait a while for it to arrive in our country, so Magicplan is also worth considering . For more specific and generally applicable uses, AR MeasureKit stands out for taking any measurement.

It seems that educational app creators have also seen a lot of potential in augmented reality, and there are quite a few apps to consider: Night Sky 5 , for astronomy fans; Atlas of Human Anatomy 2018 , for studying anatomy; or JigSpace , which is a kind of 3D version of Wikipedia, although it should be noted that it is in English (the prominence of the images makes this somewhat less relevant, but it can still be problematic).

Games with augmented reality and other apps that can be fun

Most of the games being released with this approach seem to be focusing on the puzzle genre, as is the case with some of the most popular ones: Splitter Critters , Euclidean Lands , and ARise. There's no shortage of options, however, for those looking for more action: Warhammer 40,000: Freeblade , for example, lets us take the most spectacular battles to the streets, while Zombie Gunship Revenant AR brings the zombie apocalypse into the real world. One of the most impressive and surprising we've seen, though, is Kings of Pool , for playing pool without a table.

On the other hand, other types of apps with a more creative focus are also gaining prominence, allowing us to "paint" in the real world, such as Lightspace or WorldBrush . Paint Space is also somewhat similar, but adds the ability to bring our photos and videos into the real world. Another interesting variation is Holo , which allows us to add holograms to our photos and videos.

A video demonstration

While some apps are free to try, many of the most interesting ones are paid. If for this or any other reason you're not quite ready to download and try them out for yourself, don't worry, because the first videos have already appeared that can give you a preview.

The selection of apps does not fully coincide, something complicated with so many as they are appearing (whether they are new releases or updates), but many of the ones we have mentioned are there and all of them, highlighted or not by us, are interesting and deserve let us take a look at it, even if we do download them.
