The best mid-range phablets: big screens and features for less than 400 euros

If what we are looking for is a smartphone with a screen of a more conventional size (around 5 inches), we have a large selection with the best mid-high-end mobiles which you can take a look at, but if what interests us are screens between 5.5 and 6 inches, we do not lack good options for under 400 euros: we leave you with a selection of the best mid-range phablets of the moment.

Xperia XA1 Ultra

xa1 ultra phablet

If what matters most to us is having a screen as large as possible, our best option is the Xperia XA1 Ultra, which arrives with 6 inches with Full HD resolution, although it is also the most expensive option, with a price that is very close to the limit of 400 Euros. In return we have a 23 MP main camera and a 16 MP front camera, which are perhaps the most spectacular data. Its processor is a 20 GHz octa-core Helio P2,3, which is accompanied by 4 GB of RAM. In storage it complies, with 32 GB, and it is quite light for its size, with 188 grams of weight. What we may miss is the fingerprint reader and it is true that its battery has a lower capacity than the others (2700 mAh).

Galaxy J7 2017

With a slightly more affordable price, but also with a somewhat smaller screen (5.5 inches, also Full HD), we cannot fail to take into account the Galaxy J7 2017, which can be purchased for 340 Euros. Here we do have a fingerprint reader, the processor is an eight-core Exynos 7870 at 1,6 GHz and it also has 3 GB of RAM. It comes with a powerful battery, with 3600 mAh, and the cameras are 13 MP both the main one (aperture f / 1.7), a fact that does not attract too much attention, but also the front, something that does. The worst perhaps is that the basic model stays at 16 GB of storage.

Nokia 6

The third great option is the Nokia 6 (also with screen of 5.5 inches and Full HD resolution), which from this summer can already be purchased in our country for only 250 €Yes, but do not think that it is too far behind in terms of technical specifications, with 3 GB of RAM, 32 GB of storage capacity, 16 MP main camera and 8 MP front. It does not lack the fingerprint reader either and the battery does not stand out too much but at least it reaches 3000 mAh. Perhaps the section in which it shines less is in the processor, since here we have an eight-core Snapdragon 430 at 1,4 GHz, probably the weakest on the list, although still correct for a device of its price.

Moto G5S Plus

Pending to reach the stores, presented this month, it is worth considering waiting to be able to buy the Moto G5S Plus, of whose arrival we were quite happy because we had not seen a mid-range phablet from Motorola in a long time, even if in this case we were also in 5.5 inches with Full HD resolution. It is announced that it will be sold from 300 Euros And it is a good alternative to our highlights for those who prefer a Qualcomm processor of a certain level, as it will come with a 625 GHz octa-core Snapdragon 2,0, which will be accompanied by the usual 3 GB of RAM. Neither is it out of the ordinary in storage (32 GB) or battery capacity (3000 mh), but it is also an option for those who want a dual camera, 13 MP, accompanied by an 8 MP front.

Huawei Nova 2 Plus

We have been waiting for the Huawei Nova 2 Plus And, in fact, it is true that without knowing how much it will be put on sale here for, we cannot assure you that it will not end up rising from the 400 Euros, because its predecessor did, but for now, its price to change is at the limit. Its history makes us trust, yes, that at least it will end up being put on sale here and it would be a good alternative for those looking for a slightly more refined design, a slightly more powerful processor (Kirin 659 from eight cores to 2,36, 4 GHz) and more memory (128 GB) and storage capacity (12 GB). In the cameras section, in addition, not only the 20 MP rear dual camera shines, but also the XNUMX MP front one.

Galaxy A7 (2017)

We would also like to be able to maintain some optimism regarding the Galaxy A7 (2017), but here we should probably consider just looking for it from import. Even if it did arrive, it may also come at a higher price. In any case, we cannot resist mentioning it because it is a great option if we want something over 5.5 inches (5.7 inches more accurately). Compared to the Galaxy J7, it comes with a more powerful processor (Exynos 7880 with eight cores at 1,9 GHz), and with better cameras (16 MP both), but it has the same RAM memory (3 GB) and the same capacity of storage (32 GB).

Other options

If none of these options convince us, there are still other options that we can explore. The most obvious, of course, is to get a phablet of import, but among the most popular Chinese brands the most popular launches in mid-range prices have been concentrated in smaller screens lately, unless we are willing to reach the 500 Euros, and get a OnePlus 5 or an Honor 8 Pro. It must be said, in any case, to bet on the best models of the previous year And taking advantage of the price drops is always an interesting option when we are looking for devices of a certain level, but without spending a single euro more: the LG V20 can now be bought for just over 400 euros, if we are willing to reach the Galaxy S7 Edge you can get 500 euros, and even this year's LG G6 you can get below that figure.
