Spring has been very busy as far as releases of tablets is concerned and now that all the new models, the most popular at least, have been on the street for a while and we begin to have independent information from everyone to contrast, it is time to review and discover which are the most powerful tablets to date.
The most powerful 10-inch tablets
Although we are also going to take a look at the panorama in the 8 inches, we are going to separate them from the 10 inches and not only for a matter of grouping direct rivals, but also because of a question of when the main models were launched, not all the data are supported. The ones we show you here now correspond to the results of the multicore test of Geekbench 4, a test that gives a good sample of the overall performance of the devices and that has the virtue of allowing us to directly compare the different iPad models with Android tablets.
- iPad Pro 10.5 9311 points
- iPad Pro 9.7 4854 points
- iPad 9.7 4470 points
- Galaxy Tab S3 3977 points
- ZenPad 3S 3270 points
- Galaxy Tab S2 3235 points
- Pixel C 3060 dots
- Nexus 9 2973 points
As you can see, the leadership of the tablets of Apple right now it's very clear and even the iPad 9.7, which is now the affordable model in the catalog would be ahead of the best Android tablets, although it is true that the Galaxy Tab S3 manages to stay quite close to him. In fact, the distance between it and its predecessor is greater and it would almost be necessary to put more to the new tablet of Samsung in the last position of the head that in front of the peloton.
What is most striking, in any case, is the enormous distance that the iPad Pro 10.5 to all the others: compared to the difference between him and the iPad Pro 9.7, actually, the difference between the tablets of Apple and the rest pale. But we must bear in mind that we are talking about a tablet that performs at the level of the best hybrids Windows, as can be seen by comparing its results with those obtained in performance tests for the different models of the new Surface Pro.
Behind the Galaxy Tab S3 We find ourselves in a curious situation and that is that practically all the other large 10-inch Android tablets are in a fist, and that there are we have models with different antiques and processors. Understandably, the Nexus 9, is the one that remains in the last position, but the distance with the most recent ZenPad 3S it is quite short. In fact, there are some logs in Geekbench 4 even from the X that place it in the same range, with just over 3000 points.
The most powerful 8-inch tablets
As most of the best 8-inch tablets of the moment are somewhat older releases, the best reference to compensate for their power is the results of Geekbench 3. There is one important exception, however, which is the Mi Pad 3, which appears in the latest version of this benchmark with scores of around 3500 points that would put it just behind the Galaxy Tab S3. Unfortunately, we cannot see how it would look compared to the other compact tablets, which would be its most direct rivals, with the exception of the iPad mini 4, of which we have seen records there, which remain at just over 2900 points.
- MediaPad M3 6023 points
- Galaxy Tab S2 8 4113 XNUMX points
- ZenPad Z8 3355 points
- Nvidia Shield 3437 points
- Acer Predator 8 3112 points
- iPad mini 4 3107 points
What is very clear is that here, leaving aside the Mi Pad 3, the absolute dominator is the MediaPad M3. Nor can we say that this surprises us too much because, we always insist on it, right now it is the best compact Android tablet there is in terms of hardware. And here we have nothing less than a Kirin 950, which was the processor that mounted the Huawei Mate 8, which is true that it is not the latest generation, but neither are those of its competitors.
Second place, by far, is for the 8-inch model of the Galaxy Tab S2, which had the same processor as the big one, which lets us conclude, incidentally, that the MediaPad M3 would probably fall behind the Galaxy Tab S3, near probably the tablet of Xiaomi. Behind her we already have a much more compact group, with the ZenPad Z8, the Shield Tablet, the Predator 8 and iPad mini moving in fairly similar registers. Tablets for gamers get quite modest results, as you can see, but you have to remember their strong point is the graphic processing.
