The new Nexus 7 is measured in video to the Snapdragon 600 of an HTC One

New Nexus 7 box

One of the most objectionable aspects of new nexus 7 maybe it's your processor. In the weeks leading up to launch, many sources assumed that the tablet would come equipped with one of Qualcomm's next-generation chips, the Snapdragon 600. However, Google and Asus downgraded and ultimately opted for a more basic model, the S4 Pro. We looked at the difference in performance between what is and what "could have been" the 7 Nexus 2013.

As we already mentioned, the processor of the new Nexus 7 is un Snapdragon S4 Pro 1,5 GHz vitaminized in one of the best SoC optimizations seen to date. To verify this, we have selected a video that gives us the possibility to see the performance of the tablet compared to the HTC One and its 600 a 1,7 GHz Snapdragon. We must bear in mind that the smartphone is a Google Edition, without Sense 5, so the test should show fairly reliable results. Let's see who gets to prevail.

New Nexus 7 vs HTC One

As we can see, at the beginning of the recording the speeds at which the two devices load are very similar and practically immediate. There is some variation when opening the settings where the HTC One seems to stand out, however, when launching the HangOuts application, the new nexus 7 it does it a little faster. Still, the differences can be counted in thousandths.

The controls are really fluids on both computers and the transitions from one desktop to another are fast. Little more when it comes to operating with widgets, with Google Play Music or with Google Now.

The new Nexus 7, a powerful machine

Benchmarks are not always a completely reliable data when assessing the possible experience offered by a device. In this case, the HTC One should be considerably faster than the Nexus 7 of 2013 having a new generation processor and still, what we see at first glance are very even results. It should also be noted that a Nexus will always have a optimization specific that adjusts the relationship between hardware and software, something that in Google Edition may not be so careful, as discussed throughout the video.

Either way, this test leaves quite good position to the new Nexus 7 with its Snapdragon S4 Pro.
