The Xiaomi Redmi Note reveals its design in an official image

Redmi Note teaser from Xiaomi

In recent days, there has been a lot of excitement surrounding one of Xiaomi 's upcoming devices . It's the Redmi Note , a 5,5-inch mid-range phone that's essentially a phablet version of the popular Redmi Note 1 , and it has been revealed in a press image in the last few hours. Here are the key features of this promising device.

Xiaomi has undoubtedly become one of the most interesting companies in the mobile market, and along with Oppo, Huawei, and ZTE, it demonstrates that the technology and concepts of Chinese manufacturers are of a very high standard. However, Xiaomi perhaps has something special compared to the others: its exceptional price-to-performance ratio is complemented by a rather unique version of Android, called MIUI , which aims for maximum simplicity for the user and inevitably evokes iOS in certain aspects.

A team focused on the screen and autonomy

We already have some technical details about the device, which, as we mentioned, will feature a 5,5-inch screen with a 720p resolution. Furthermore, it will be powered by Mediatek's octa-core MTK6592 SoC.

However, Xiaomi CEO Lei Jun published a press photo of the Redmi this morning, stating that its defining aspects, in addition to the impressive screen, are performance and battery life.

Similarities to the Galaxy Note 3?

Given its size and the "Note" label, one might think this Redmi 2 is designed to compete with the Galaxy Note 3 ; however, it's important to distinguish between the intentions of each manufacturer with their respective products. Judging by the images, it seems Xiaomi won't even include a stylus with its device and that the Note designation is solely due to its size. The Chinese company's aim, we understand, is to present a successor worthy of the Redmi Note 3, capable of achieving similar sales success, targeting the mid-range market.
