Twitter Home? A possibility that is already valued in the company

Twitter Home

Facebook Home is not just the latest social network product for us to personalize our Android phones. It involves a change in the focus of the user experience beyond whether it is executed with greater or lesser success. The other great social network has taken note and positively valued the bet of those of Zuckerberg and recently in a talk a high official of the company left open the possibility that we would see in the future a Twitter Home.

At the D: Dive Into Mobile event, Vice President of Product Michael Sippey showed his admiration for the Facebook product. In fact, it recognizes that they would like the tweets to appear in that launcher, something that at first sounds highly unlikely.

In that talk he talked about the time they are dedicating to how to get the most out of Android in terms of user experience. Improving access to Twitter on this operating system is one of its goals. The goal would be to make it easier to discover tweets on Android, in the words of Sippey himself.

The audacity to explore and rehearse new ideas is essential. This is incorporated into its work discipline and has borne fruit in some of the functions that we see today in its application. In fact, it is said that precisely in this way the colleagues of the book came to the discovery of the Chat Heads.

In his presentation, Zuckerberg was right on the mark when he described today's mobile operating systems as application systems. The user experience today revolves around applications that we have installed. But in use, we realize that there is a transversality. We have contacts that we can communicate with in many different applications by having profiles in them. And is that much of the time we spend on phones and tablets is communicating with them.

Un shift towards focusing the experience on the social part it was necessary, even if only as an option. A kind of Twitter Home would be well received by the public, although perhaps a launcher for Android that links well the profiles of our various contacts and provides us with access to communications in all applications, a kind of multi-client with notifications, would be better.
