Rumors come to us from various Chinese media of the arrival of a new Sony phablet but this time at low cost. The device in question has been codenamed Xperia tianchi and has the particularity that it will have the 8-core MediaTek MT6592 processor.
It is not the first time we have heard of this device. Almost half a year ago we heard that MediaTek and Sony they would collaborate to create low-cost, energy-efficient devices together that would target the Asian market. Other brands have already released their devices with the company's quad-core chips and continue to do so, but it seems that the Japanese wants to bet stronger, after a first trial with the launch of the Xperia C smartphone in China at a very low cost.

In mid-summer, MediaTek made official its eight-core chips based on big.LITTLE architecture who were betting on the real simultaneous use of the same or heterogeneous multiprocessing. It was thus presented as a cheaper and more efficient alternative to Samsung's Exynos 5 Octa, which did not achieve this synchrony in its first steps until it made a modification.
The MT6592's benchmark results are impressive, even though it uses Low-power 7 GHz Cortex-A2 cores of frequency. They do not reach the levels of the Snapdragon 800 or Exynos 5 Octa but surely you will spend less.
It seems that the aforementioned Xperia Tianchi device will have a 6-inch screen with 720p HD resolution. This delves into the idea of a more affordable device but also with great autonomy. Reference is also made to the thickness, which in no case will drop below the 6,5 mm of the Xperia Z1.
As for when we can see this device, it is pointing to an event for the November 12th. Until then, we will stay tuned for any additional information.
