ZTE Grand Memo II slightly improves the bet of its predecessor

ZTE Grand Memo II

The ZTE Grand Memo II phablet was finally unveiled at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona. It's a mid-range device that raises the bar set by its predecessor to compete in an increasingly crowded category.

A week before the Barcelona trade fair began, the Chinese company announced what it would be showcasing and provided some details about this phablet . We knew that the screen would grow to 6 inches and that LTE connectivity would be included, the latter being something the previous model already had and which was to be expected.

That 6-inch screen has a resolution of 1280 x 720 pixels, the same as the previous model. Interestingly, the processor power has been reduced. It features a quad-core Snapdragon 400 with Cortex-A7 cores clocked at 1,7 GHz. Last year, they opted for a Snapdragon S4 Pro MSM9215 chip, which should have been slightly more powerful. It's also paired with 2 GB of RAM to run Android 4.4 KitKat with a significant amount of the company's custom skin.

It has 16 GB of storage expandable via microSD . Its front camera is 5 MP and the rear camera is 13 MP . Connectivity includes WiFi, LTE, and Bluetooth 4.0.

A beautiful 3.200 mAh battery has been included which should give us about 16 hours of video playback, thanks also to its own power saving system that would save up to 30% of energy consumption.

Its carbon fiber body is 7,2 mm thick . However, we've received impressions that its finish isn't entirely successful and that there are annoying aspects, such as having to use a tool to access the SIM and SD card slots.

The price has not been revealed yet, but it is known that it will debut in China in March and then it will be rolled out to international markets.
